The Centre was entrusted by US AID with research on a comparative study of the Anti Corruption legislation and institutional structure in Sri Lanka. Comparisons with other jurisdictions such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia were involved in this study. A research team comprising Dr. Mario Gomez, Neshan Gunasekera and Dinesha Samararatne was set up for this purpose.
The Centre has prepared a report on this topic. In the preparation of this report the Centre consulted numerous personalities in the anti corruption field in Sri Lanka such as CIABOC and the Auditor General’s Department.
The Centre also held a seminar in regard to its conclusions and this seminar was addressed by leading personalities who had been involved in anti corruption work in Sri Lanka such as Mr. Sam Wijesinha, Ms. Maureen Seneviratne PC and Mr. Weliamuna (Director, Transparency International).
At the National Anti Corruption seminar held on Saturday the 28th of July 2007 an anti corruption programme was presented. Judge Weeramantry delivered the key note address.
The report has now been submitted and will be integrated into the Sri Lankan Anti Corruption Programme.
