The much anticipated first volume of the memoirs of Judge Weeramantry was launched on November 24th at an event at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo Sri Lanka. The book was launched by Mr. Jayantha Dhanapala, former Ambassador to the United Nations and event was attended by Chief Justice Asoka De Silva, Mr. Sam Wijesinha , former Secretary General of Parliament and Dr. Wickrama Weerasooria.
This volume discusses the initial stages of Judge WeeramantryĆs life and traces a very interesting period in Sri Lanka, from pre to post independence. It narrates Judge WeeramantryĆs childhood, family, school years, law school and concludes with his decision to take up a posting in Australia as a law professor at a time when he was a Judge of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.
