The Castan Centre is a non-profit, non-partisan centre focusing on the study of human rights law globally, regionally and in Australia. It was established in 2000 and is named after Ron Castan AM QC a passionate advocate of human rights.The Castan Centre for Human Rights Law seeks to promote and protect human rights through the generation and dissemination of public scholarship in international and domestic human rights law. In pursuit of this mission, the Centre brings the work of human rights scholars, practitioners and advocates from a wide range of disciplines together in the Centre’s key activities of research, teaching, public education (lectures, seminars, conferences, speeches, media presentations, etc), applied research, advice work and consultancies.

The mission of the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law (CISDL) is to promote sustainable societies and the protection of ecosystems by advancing the understanding, development and implementation of international sustainable development law. The CISDL is governed by a distinguished Board of Governors, Chaired by Mr. Ashfaq Khalfan, and two CISDL Directors, and is guided a roster of honoured international advisors and expert collaborators. The CISDL is engaged in six primary areas of sustainable development law research, each of which is led by a CISDL Lead Counsel based at a developing or developed country law faculty or international organisation.

Environmental Foundation – EFL is one of Sri Lanka’s oldest public interest organisations working in environmental conservation and protection since 1981. As a non-profit making institution, EFL is well known for its legal actions over the years, and has gained a reputation for its balanced approach, transparency and neutrality in environmental matters. The organisation was established as a non-profit making institution by a group of environmentally conscious citizens who joined hands in an effort to stop the exploitation of Sri Lanka’s natural heritage in the early 1980’s. EFL’s work has remained true to its founding principles for nearly three decades now.

The Hague Appeal for Peace is an international network of organizations and individuals dedicated to the abolition of war and making peace a human right. The Global Campaign for Peace Education was launched at the Hague Appeal for Peace conference in May 1999. After the conference, Hague Appeal for Peace took the responsibility of coordinating the Campaign.

The Indian Society of International Law (ISIL), a premier national institution for teaching, research and promotion of international law, was established in 1959, primarily due to the efforts of the late V.K. Krishna Menon. It has indeed been a long and fulfilling journey for the ISIL that it has earned a pride of place among the community of international lawyers through out the world. The objectives of the ISIL inter alia are: to foster nation-wide, the study and development of international law; to interpret through its forums and publications, the application of international law as chiefly affecting India; to encourage the comparative study of the application of international law in other states; and to promote research in international law.
